SURVIVOR SUPPORT

Restore Hope is dedicated to helping

survivors of child sexual abuse find healing

It is estimated that there are currently 42 million survivors of child sexual abuse in the US alone.

This is about 2.5 times the nearly 16.9 million cancer survivors that were reported as of 2019.  (SourceAmerican Cancer Society)

Your decision, as a survivor, to undertake the work involved in following a personal journey of self-discovery and healing after experiencing child sexual abuse is the first and most vital step in the recovery process. The exact path of your healing journey will be determined by your own abuse history and your individual gifts and personal challenges.

Take time to consider what route will serve you best.

Will it be counseling, one-on-one or in a group setting? Can use of the expressive arts bring a cathartic means of recovering your life and dreams? What other outside-the-box options may exist for you? The expressive arts range from tactile-based – such as painting, sculpting, drawing, and writing – to movement-based, like dance, drama, yoga, and tai chi – to visually-based, which includes photography, printmaking, reading books, and video creation.

Two short videos appear on this page, both of which demonstrate the power of individual digital storytelling. They were produced by two Oregon survivors who chose to share them on Restore Hope’s website. If you are interested in learning more about this personal narrative format, please contact us using the information below.

Restore Hope has a network of counselors in the Portland, Oregon area who can offer one-on-one or group therapeutic assistance.

We know how difficult it can be to get connected and would be happy to try to assist you in finding a counselor who can help with your healing journey. Please email or call us for more information.
